Ball and Tail

This animation was made for an assignment in my Technical Character Animation class at Carnegie Mellon University. It was produced using Autodesk Maya 2017 and Maya's Arnold Renderer.

This assignment was geared towards having us explore the use of the fundamental animation concepts of overlap and secondary animation. This scene see a little creature approaching a chasm full of spikes. He stops when he sees this giant gap, but musters the courage to make the leap. His tail is meant to highlight the main body's motion and even enhance it at certain points, like when he lands on the other side of the ledge.

Before I produced the final animation you see, I made a basic animation plan that detailed my approach to this assignment:

This project took about 5 days to complete.
